Are you stressed out? Could you use a break? If I gave you a cash for every time you heard the word Muuuummmmmyyyy – would you be rich? Well, we have all been there! With babies, toddlers and older children to care for along with cooking meals, paying bills, cleaning and playing taxi, finding time for yourself may seem impossible and when you do find a few quiet minutes, many of us are at a loss for what to do.

Taking time out to recharge your batteries is just what you need. So, what’s stopping you? Leave your chores behind, just for a little while, and give yourself permission to take a much needed time-out.

Here are just a few of my favorite Stress-Busters:

Put yourself in time out: Allow some alone time for yourself. Use this time to focus on you. Find a place in your home that you can go to and find privacy. You can ask your partner or a friend to take the family out for a few hours while you enjoy your alone time. Do nothing, sleep, read, watch a movie, and just enjoy your solitude.

Talk to a friend: When you are feeling stressed, lean on a good friend. Sit down and enjoy a good conversation, a cup of coffee or a girls day out pampering yourself. Moms find great comfort, support and love in the company of close friends.

Play: As adults, we sometimes forget the beneficial value of play. Play stimulates our imagination, encourages our creativity, boosts our energy, and best of all, it is fun. Try a game of tennis, a game of cards online or perhaps invite some friends over for an evening of adult board games.

Meditate: Meditation has been proven to reduce your blood pressure, and helps to dramatically reduce your stress level. Meditation and/or prayer will help you to keep in touch with your spiritual side. Meditation is a very effective method of relaxation. To meditate, quiet your mind and allow yourself to focus on one thing, such as your breath. Find a relaxed comfortable position where Try visualizing good health and peace as you inhale. While you are breathing out breathe out all of your stress. Set aside approximately 20 minutes for this exercise. Upon completion, you will see just how much more relaxed your mind and body is.

Take a nap: Find a quiet, comfortable spot and take a nap. Even a short power nap can leave you feeling refreshed, renewed, and more focused. Studies have shown that people who spent 30 minutes each day napping had one third less heart disease than those who didn’t nap.

Eat: Not just anything but certain things. Studies show that certain foods can help reduce stress. Carbohydrates, will actually soothe you. Good sources of carbohydrates include rice, pasta, potatoes, breads, air-popped popcorn and low-calorie cookies. Experts suggest that the carbohydrates present in just one baked potato or a cup of spaghetti or white rice, is enough to relieve the anxiety of a stressful day.

Hypnotherapy for personal development? – I hear you ask. My answer, why not? There is no reason that hypnotherapy cannot help you become a better person. Most of us today are under constant pressure to perform better, to look cool, and to be successful. There are hundreds of forces working on us at all times to shape our own identity in our own eyes. Today, there are millions of people who suffer from low self confidence, low self esteem; there are thousands of youngsters who live with a negative self image for years, and worse still when they grow up those ideas that they have harbored all those years become so inimitable that it is almost impossible for them to overcome it.

Here’s where hypnotherapy for personal development comes in. Recent research has found that hypnotherapy is a very effective means of personality development, and that it affects virtually every aspect of human lives. Through hypnotherapy you could cure yourself of anxiety and nervousness; you could work towards thwarting self doubt and become more confident. You can use hypnotherapy to lose weight and look better; you can use hypnotherapy to increase your creativity and improve upon your public speaking skills. Doesn’t it seem like that hypnotherapy is actually too good to be true?

Its actually not. Once you realize the potential of hypnotherapy for personal development, you can work wonders with it. With the help of a qualified hypnotherapist, you can begin your journey to the centre of your subconscious mind. Most hypnotherapists provide individual consultations; some provide group consultations as well to address issues like weight loss or smoking. You could also purchase books and audio tapes on hypnotherapy or join a reputed hypnotherapy class to get into the groove.

You ask -What are the areas that hypnotherapy for personal development can help me? I answer; it depends upon what areas you want to improve upon. Hypnotherapy’s arena is nearly limitless, because it deals with a magnificent mechanism in our body called the brain. If you can train your subconscious to think a certain way, there is no end to possibilities of what changes you can bring about. It can help you in increasing your mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as physical health. It can help you get better scores in your pop-quizzes, or help you crack more deals with your clients. It can help you have a more enriching relationship with your spouse, or increase the level of your creativity.

Let me give you an example. Let’s say that going through hypnotherapy for personal development is like going deep sea diving. I am sure most of you are fascinated by it, even though you might never have indulged in it. Like deep sea diving, hypnotherapy takes you to the deepest recesses of your mind to find your true self. In diving you jump in to witness the exotic marine life, explore the sea bed and if possible come back with a treasure. Similarly hypnotherapy takes you on a dive to discover yourself, see the way your mind functions, and come back with a brighter, newer you!

Hypnotherapy is a medical procedure that is used to treat mental and emotional problems of people. The hypnotherapist is a qualified and trained professional who hypnotizes his or her clients to make their subconscious minds accept positive suggestions. One can take up online courses in hypnotherapy. These courses will teach the different techniques of hypnotizing, hypnotizing people who cannot be hypnotized easily and deepening the trance, ready and fast methods to hypnotize, and covert hypnosis.

The hypnosis courses also deal with closely guarded secrets of many master hypnotherapists. After taking up the course one can readily work as a competent hypnotherapist. Generally, hypnotherapy is learned by a lot of psychologists and psychotherapists as a part of their professional skill enhancement. It helps them in understanding the sub-conscious mental state of their clients and patients better. Many neo-Freudians learn hypnotherapy. Apart from the psychology professionals, talk therapists also learn hypnotherapy to be equipped in a better manner to deal with their patients.

Modern hypnotherapy education emphasis on teaching techniques that yield results fast. Unlike the traditional methods, they are not time-consuming and difficult to master. As these methods are tested over time and improvised upon, they are guaranteed to be very effective in dealing with any kind of emotional and mental problems. In the practical sessions of hypnotherapy you learn different methods by which you can induce hypnosis in a person and also assess the degree to which he is in a trance before starting off with suggestions.

There are a lot of institutions that are offering courses on hypnotherapy. Generally the courses are designed to give you combined hypnotist and hypnotherapist certifications. By undergoing these courses you get the dual degree of a hypnotist and a hypnotherapist that gives you the flexibility to practice your skills not only for therapeutic purposes but for also other commercial purposes, for example, for boosting confidence before a crucial stage performance. The courses are modularized into sections that deal with the subjects of hypnosis, hypnotist, and hypnotherapist.

Before learning to become a hypnotherapist you get to learn to be a hypnotist. Then only you graduate to be a hypnotherapist. The course duration will range from one week to ten days. Courses offered online are very reasonably priced. You will learn all about hypnosis in the first few days, when you are being taught to be a hypnotist. After that you proceed to learning hypnotherapy. In the module that teaches you to be a hypnotist, you learn the techniques and procedures to mesmerize a person and bring him/her into a trance and then insert suggestions into his or her subconscious mind.

In the hypnotherapy course you will specifically divert the knowledge and experience that you have acquired into the clinical arena, where you will need to treat patients with emotional problems. A person who is suffering from anxiety or depression or any other emotional problem might come to you to get cured. You will have to use the clinical procedures of treating your clients through hypnosis and curing them of their maladies.

Irritable bowel syndrome has similar symptoms to ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease. However, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease are bowel disorders with inflammation and IBS is not.

Ulcerative colitis is when the lining of the colon becomes inflamed and develops ulcers. The chronic symptoms of this disorder may include bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, nutritional deficiencies, food intolerances, achiness, joint pain, itchiness, flatulence and bloating.

Crohn’s Disease is an inflammatory bowel disorder that commonly affects the small intestine. Inflammation of the bowel lining is severe and deep in the intestinal wall. Scar tissue can build up from sores and ulcers and cause blockages in the intestines. Symptoms may include abdominal cramping, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, anorexia, nausea, food intolerances, nutritional deficiencies, vomiting, headaches, itchiness, flatulence, loss of appetite and weight loss.

Diagnosis of these digestive disorders can be complicated because of the similarity of symptoms.

Is prescription medication my only option for controlling bowel disorder symptoms?

The television is filled with prescription medication commercials vowing to “give” people their life back from painful disease symptoms. The problem with this picture though is that the use of synthetic chemicals is only an attempt to “relieve” illness symptoms, and they do not “fix” the underlying cause. Also, there are significant side effects when taking drug medications.

Initially, drugs may seem to be making you better, because the painful symptoms have diminished or have subsided altogether. However, what has really happened is your body’s warning system has been shut off. The underlying cause of the symptoms is just being ignored.

When a problem is not truly dealt with and resolved, it will rear its ugly head at some point in the future. Your own experience may have taught you this, and it is why you are looking for a natural solution.

IBS and other bowel disorders can be addressed through natural holistic means. You won’t only be addressing the symptoms, but you will be healing your body at the core.

Shrugged shoulders – this is men’s common reaction whenever menopause is discussed by their significant other. Perhaps the reaction can be taken into account with the fact that it is hard to understand something that you do not personally experience.

What if men experience menopause? Will they begin to understand a woman’s menopausal plight?

It may be a resounding yes or no. Medical studies show that women are not the only ones who experience menopause, men does too. The term is referred to as male menopause commonly known as andropause. Viropause is another term for male menopause. This is described to be the cause of low testosterone levels. Others view it as an end to first adulthood and an indication to begin second adulthood. Some individuals on the other hand view andropause in a sexual manner, wherein it signifies deterioration of sexual desires and performance.

Men may find this fact alarming. Perhaps then, they will start to realize and later on comprehend how it is like to have drastic hormonal change. Menopause for women has distinct and defined symptoms such as stop of menstrual cycle, hot flashes which is evident on the face, chest and neck, too much perspiration, dryness in the vagina, throbbing heartbeat, body aches, itching skin, the growth of hair increases specifically on face but growth of hair decreases on armpit and pubic hair.

On the other hand, dropping of testosterone produced is the most well-defined symptom of male menopause. This can be screened and identified after consulting a physician since decrease in testosterone may also be associated with other illnesses such as diabetes. Once testosterone level has gone down, the following symptoms may be transparent:

Physical exhaustion from simple tasks. The usual alertness and drive to easily accomplish tasks decreases. Being usually tired however does not contribute for a man to gain better sleep. At this stage, he may suffer from insomnia.

Furthermore, increase in weight and body fat is evident yet unexplainable.

Mental fatigue. The ability to concentrate lessens. He may need time to digest things being discussed over a conversation, on a written material or even audio-related matters.

Emotional exhaustion. At this time, a man’s temper varies. He may feel happy now and suddenly sadness might strike him. Sadness aside, he may depict an angry attitude most of the time. Moreover, a man experiencing male menopause can easily be observed as always nervous.

Decrease in sexual desire. This may be due to failure to get or sustain an erection.

Andropause is not an alarming situation if men have apt knowledge on facts about male menopause. It will also be helpful if he gains knowledge on its symptoms so he can gauge whether or not he is suffering from andropause. To further verify the condition, a visit to a physician is highly recommended.

The situation will be less distressing for men if their significant others will well support him. If women needs heightened support, love and understanding during the menopausal stage, men in the same way needs it.

Now that there is a male version of menopause, maybe then the successor of Adam will be able to understand what is going with a woman’s body when she begins to experience menopause. Perhaps now there will be no more shrugging of shoulders. Instead there will be a shoulder to lean on hard times such as undergoing andropause.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS for short, is a common condition, and is prevalent in people who suffer from fibromyalgia syndrome. IBS is found in approximately 60% of fibromyalgia patients.

Some of the more common symptoms associated with IBS are:

•	Diarrhea or constipation
•	Frequent abdominal pain
•	Gas and abdominal bloating
•	Nausea
•	Decreased appetite
•	Irritability
•	Lack of confidence to travel around town (because they are not sure when they will need to use a bathroom)

Fibromyalgia sufferers often state that when they experience a flare-up of their fibromyalgia symptoms, their IBS will also flare-up. Increased stress will also trigger an IBS flare-up.

During periods of flare-ups, patients say that they either feel like they cannot eat because they do not have an appetite or they do not want to eat so they do not experience any of the associated symptoms. If they do eat, the food will usually pass right through them.

Experiencing IBS causes a few problems that are not usually addressed or considered when describing fibromyalgia symptoms. First of all, if a person cannot eat, there is a decrease in the amount of nutrients that the person will ingest, absorb and utilize within the body. This in itself can cause a cascade of different symptoms and/or conditions that potentially can make the fibromyalgia symptoms worsen. Furthermore, this can lead to other health issues in addition to the fibromyalgia, making a person feel even more uncomfortable.

A decrease in nutrient intake leads to a nutrient deficient body. This is why it might make sense for this sufferer to try adding supplements (specifically in this case a multivitamin) to their diet to get the required nutrients the body needs daily.

By not eating, the fibromyalgia sufferer is probably not consuming enough calories to help keep their energy levels up. Food is fuel for the body. Lack of fuel will contribute to the overall chronic fatigue feeling that is experienced by fibromyalgia sufferers.

The hypnotist, dangling a swinging pocket watch before the subject’s eyes, slowly intones: “You’re getting sleepy … You’re getting sleepy …” The subject’s head abruptly slumps downward. He is in a deep, sleeplike trance, oblivious to everything but the hypnotist’s soft voice. Powerless to resist the hypnotist’s influence, the subject obeys every command, including an instruction to act out an upsetting childhood scene. On “awakening” from the trance half an hour later, he has no memory of what happened.

In fact, this familiar description, captured in countless movies, embodies a host of misconceptions. Few if any modern hypnotists use the celebrated swinging watch introduced by Scottish eye surgeon James Braid in the mid-19th century. Although most hypnotists attempt to calm subjects during the “induction,” such relaxation is not necessary; people have even been hypnotized while pedaling vigorously on a stationary bicycle. Electroencephalographic (EEG) studies confirm that during hypnosis subjects are not in a sleeplike state but are awake—though sometimes a bit drowsy. Moreover, they can freely resist the hypnotist’s suggestions and are far from mindless automatons. Finally, research by psychologist Nicholas Spanos of Carleton University in Ontario shows that a failure to remember what transpired during the hypnosis session, or so-called posthypnotic amnesia, is not an intrinsic element of hypnosis and typically occurs only when subjects are told to expect it to occur.

The Consciousness Question
The iconic scene we described at the article’s outset also raises a deeper question: Is hypnosis a distinct state of consciousness? Most people seem to think so; in a recent unpublished survey, psychologist Joseph Green of Ohio State University at Lima and his colleagues found that 77 percent of college students agreed that hypnosis is a distinctly altered state of consciousness. This issue is of more than academic importance. If hypnosis differs in kind rather than in degree from ordinary consciousness, it could imply that hypnotized people can take actions that are impossible to perform in the waking state. It could also lend credibility to claims that hypnosis is a unique means of reducing pain or of effecting dramatic psychological and medical cures.

Despite the ubiquitous Hollywood depiction of hypnosis as a trance, investigators have had an extremely difficult time pinpointing any specific “markers”—indicators—of hypnosis that distinguish it from other states. The legendary American psychiatrist Milton Erickson claimed that hypnosis is marked by several unique features, including posthypnotic amnesia and “literalism”—a tendency to take questions literally, such as responding “Yes” to the question “Can you tell me what time it is?” We have already seen that posthypnotic amnesia is not an inherent accompaniment of hypnosis, so Erickson was wrong on that score. Moreover, research by Green, Binghamton University psychologist Steven Jay Lynn and their colleagues shows that most highly hypnotizable subjects do not display literalism while hypnotized; moreover, participants asked to simulate hypnosis demonstrate even higher rates of literalism than highly hypnotizable subjects do.

Other experts, such as the late University of Pennsylvania psychiatrist Martin Orne, have argued that only hypnotized participants experience “trance logic”—the ability to entertain two mutually inconsistent ideas at the same time. For example, a hypnotist might suggest to a subject that he is deaf and then ask him, “Can you hear me now?” He may respond “No,” thereby manifesting trance logic. Nevertheless, research by the late Theodore X. Barber, then at the Medfield Foundation, and his colleagues showed that participants asked to simulate hypnosis displayed trance logic just as often as hypnotized people did, suggesting that trance logic is largely a function of people’s expectations rather than an intrinsic component of the hypnotic state itself.

Brain Changes
Still other investigators have sought to uncover distinct physiological markers of hypnosis. Under hypnosis, EEGs, especially those of highly suggestible participants, sometimes display a shift toward heightened activity in the theta band (four to seven cycles per second). In addition, hypnotized participants frequently exhibit increased activity in their brain’s anterior cingulate cortex (ACC).

Yet neither finding is surprising. Theta activity is typically associated with states of quiet concentration, which frequently accompany hypnosis. The ACC is linked to the perception of contradictions, which many hypnotized participants experience as they imagine things—such as childhood experiences in the present—that seem to conflict with reality. Further, psychologists have reported similar brain changes among awake subjects. For example, the ACC becomes activated during the famous Stroop task, which requires subjects to name the colors of ink (such as “green”) in which competing color words (such as “blue”) are printed. Thus, these brain changes are not unique to hypnosis.

Fueling the perception of hypnosis as a distinct trancelike state is the widespread assumption that it leads to marked increases in suggestibility, even complete compliance to the therapist’s suggestions. Nowhere is this zombielike stereotype portrayed more vividly than in stage hypnosis shows, in which people are seemingly induced to bark like dogs, sing karaoke and engage in other comical behaviors in full view of hundreds of amused audience members.

Yet research shows that hypnosis exerts only a minor impact on suggestibility. On standardized scales of hypnotic suggestibility, which ask participants to comply with a dozen suggestions (that one’s arm is raising on its own power, for example), the increase in suggestibility following a hypnotic induction is typically on the order of 10 percent or less. Moreover, research demonstrates that a formal hypnotic induction is not needed to produce many of the seemingly spectacular effects of hypnosis, such as reduction of extreme pain or various physical feats, popular in stage hypnosis acts, such as suspending a participant horizontally between the backs of two chairs. One can generate most, if not all, of these effects merely by providing highly suggestible people with sufficient incentives to perform them. Stage hypnotists are well aware of this little secret. Before beginning their shtick, they prescreen audience members for high suggestibility by providing those people with a string of suggestions. They then handpick their participants from among the minority who comply.

We agree with Lynn and psychologist Irving Kirsch of the University of Hull in England, who wrote in 1995 that “having failed to find reliable markers of trance after 50 years of careful research, most researchers have concluded that this hypothesis [that hypnosis is a unique state of consciousness] has outlived its usefulness.” Increasingly, evidence is suggesting that the effects of hypnosis result largely from people’s expectations about what hypnosis entails rather than from the hypnotic state itself. Still, it is always possible that future studies could overturn or at least qualify this conclusion. In particular, research on potential physiological markers of hypnosis may elucidate how hypnosis differs from other states of consciousness. Although hypnosis poses fascinating mysteries that will keep scientists busy for decades, it seems clear that it has far more in common with everyday wakefulness than with the watch-induced trance of Hollywood crime thrillers.

If you have tried the slimming clubs such as Weight Watchers or Slimming World and only got so far before you were tempted to just have a nibble of that chocolate cake or finish the little one’s left over fish fingers then there is a reason for that.

Fundamentally both the Weight Watchers and Slimming World promote healthy low fat & carbohydrate eating with gentle exercise and that is really the best way from a physical level to lose weight. Therefore you are burning more calories than you are taking on board and therefore your body is burning it’s reserves.

This is all fantastic stuff however there is another aspect to everyone’s eating habits that despite their best endeavours the slimming clubs are unable to make significant inroads into namely the psychological aspect.

This can be as simple as being told as a child to always clear your plate, and maintain that practise through to adulthood, where you decide on how big a portion to have on the plate. It can also be a more complex matter of comfort eating which frequently stems from childhood when you were given your favourite snack as a ‘reward for being brave’ or to ‘put a smile on your face’.

Typically these rewards would be high carbohydrate items like chocolate, crisps biscuits or sweet treats. So then as an adult who is feeling rough you reach out for some of your comfort food and gorge on it. Very few people will reach for an apple or banana as a comfort food item.

So if you want to reap the full benefit of your investment in your membership fees of the likes of Weight Watchers and Slimming World then you could do a lot worse than have a few sessions with a specialist who can help you to look again at your relationship with food and the reasons that at certain times you find it much harder to step away from the snacks.

One of the most effective approaches is using hypnotherapy that will help you to make the changes in how you deal with food at a subconscious level making it easy to stick to your diet and even motivate you to increase your exercise levels.

Many people have used hypnotherapy audio programs and others find that the personal tailored approach of a professional therapist suit them better. Typically like all things in life the tailored personal approach tends to be much more effective.

At the West London Hypnotherapy Clinic we know that the best way to help our clients lose the weight they need and to keep it off is the personal tailored approach and we offer 7 sessions with a therapist for just £300. And given the advances in technology we can deliver this package either in person at our clinics or anywhere via Skype.

There are some important factors to understand when deciding to use hypnosis for anxiety. If you are like most people, you probably have been struggling with anxiety most of your life. You probably have prescription medication handy at all times, thinking you are going to have anxiety for the rest of your life. And that is exactly the problem, your thinking.

First let me talk a little bit about thinking, then I will get into how hypnosis for anxiety comes in.

Anxiety is typically caused by our childhood. Many times our parents or the environment where we grew up taught us to feel anxious or nervous all the time. We may have been raised in an environment where we were always afraid, or were taught to constantly worry about everything. The problem is how we think.

Every single thought we have is energy. And energy can only be transferred, meaning it has to go somewhere. And our beliefs decide how strong the energy is. If an experience happens, and we believe it to be life-threatening, that will have a very profound effect on our body. This is because we believe – based on what we see and perceive – something to be true that could kill us. This causes our body to have a severe reaction. Lets say you are driving with someone in a car and you are going up to a stop light but he is not stopping. You start to freak out because you are afraid you are about to hit.

Your whole body tenses up and you have a strong reaction. Your friend in the backseat has driven with this person before and knows they always stop very late. So they know and believe that they are safe because they have driven with this person before and everything was fine. You are scared to death because you believe you are going to hit and maybe get killed. Your whole body is reacting and your adrenaline is pumping, but the person in the back is calmly reading a book, knowing that he is safe. Your thoughts are what caused your body to react the way it did.

Your thoughts are the energy that power your feelings. If you knew that this person was going to stop the car, you would feel much less anxiousness and would probably be the same way as the friend in the backseat, but because you believed you could possibly die at that time your body jumped into gear to protect you. It is our primitive protector. It is what controls our feelings. It takes in our perceptions and primitively makes a decision on how we feel.

So if you accept that your thoughts decide how you feel, then now think about your own thoughts. Think about what you currently worry about right now. Think about all the negative thoughts. What is it you are anxious about? And then realize what you are thinking. Maybe you are worrying about what people will think of you and the possible outcomes of that. Maybe you are worrying that you might be in danger in some situation. Maybe you are worried about your body or your current health. It does not matter what it is. The point is the thoughts and beliefs are what is causing the problems. If you were to think all day “My Stomach Hurts” and that is the only thing you were to think about all day, then I guarantee you by the end of the day your stomach would feel miserable. And the more you believed it the more it would hurt.

Take a hyperchondriac for example. They always think they are sick and they believe it. And because of that their body responds by making itself sick by either altering the immune system to be more susceptible to disease, or physically feeling bad based on what they are thinking. And then take the opposite example. The incredible optimistic person. The kind of person who always sees the good in everything and always thinks and feels positively. The kind of person who always believes in the good in everything. They always feel good! And they really do feel good. All of their positive thoughts about their body and their surroundings has the effect of creating those positive feelings. And because of that they feel great all the time.

So what you have to do is change your beliefs and change your thinking. You cannot do one without doing the other. And that is where hypnosis for anxiety comes in.

Anxiety Hypnosis helps you to change your thinking and the way you feel. You can easily change the way you feel with hypnosis. That is the first difference you can make. It will instantly make a difference on the first session. You will notice an amazing difference. You will feel great. But it will not last. Hypnosis usually is long lasting and can last the rest of your life, but with anxiety, you have to do more than that because of a persons thoughts.

The anxiety hypnosis session has to be designed to where it helps a person change the way they think, otherwise there would only be short-term results. You would listen to one or two sessions, thinking your anxiety was gone, and then it would come back later and you would be disappointed. But if the hypnosis session was designed properly to help you alter your thinking in addition to the way you feel each day, then you have a recipe for completely eliminating your anxiety. So if you are considering a hypnosis session, make sure it helps you to eliminate negative thoughts and worrying with the anxiety, because that is the most crucial part.

Irritable bowel syndrome - As the name suggests affects your bowel which is also your large intestine. Find out more about this often painful and debilatating conditions [...]

Irritable bowel syndrome – As the name suggests affects your bowel which is also your large intestine. It is an important part of your digestive system which makes and stores stool. This condition is associated with many symptoms due to which it is termed as syndrome. You may be shocked or surprised by the number of people who are affected by this kind of a problem. IBS cannot be termed as a disease but a functional disorder related to the bowel. Intestinal diseases like ulcerative colitis and Cohn’s disease can damage your intestine but IBS does not harm your intestine through inflammation or any other methods. The key to control this syndrome is to have a healthy and stress free lifestyle. This syndrome puts you through lot of pain and discomfort.

Some common reasons which cause this syndrome are large meals, bloated colon, specific medicines and food. Stress may not be directly related to IBS but if you are suffering from IBS, stress can surely aggravate the situation. It is known that during menstrual periods chances of IBS increases due to change in hormonal pattern. Common symptoms which pinpoint towards IBS are bloated stomach, abdominal pain with cramps, diarrhea, constipation, excess gas/ flatulence, mucus in the stool.

Food becomes an important part when affected by IBS. There is no one food which triggers this problem. Any food which is high in fat, insoluble fiber (which cannot be dissolved in water like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and cereals and caffeine (in any form like carbonated beverages, tea, coffee and even decaf) can cause this problem. Soluble fibers on the other hand are our saviors. They can get through problems like diarrhea and constipation. An increased fiber diet really helps you beat this problem. But excess of anything can be trouble. Other than helping you out from this mess it may push you further into it. There are no specific treatments which can cure IBS problem but by using preventive measure we can relieve the symptoms. A change in ones lifestyle can make a huge difference to fight this condition. Some dietary changes, changes in medicines as well as counter attacking stress-related problem make a lot of difference.

Home Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Instead of having one large meal, eat small meals which will not add too much stress on your digestive system.

Another method of treating this syndrome is by the use of hypnotherapy. It is one of the drug-free solutions to combat this problem.

Avoid stress by doing some relaxing activities like reading, chatting up with your friends, listening to music and many more.

In dietary changes avoid all the fatty foods like French fries, cheese, ice-cream, chocolate, alcohol and many more.

You can include soluble fiber in your diet such as rice, pasta and noodles, oatmeal, barley, fresh white bread, turnips, sweet potatoes, avocados, papayas and many more.

Drink enough fluids to remain hydrated as well as to have smooth bowel movements.

Avoid gas generating vegetables like beans, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and onions.

Warning: The reader of this article should exercise all precautionary measures while following instructions on the home remedies from this article. Avoid using any of these products if you are allergic to it. The responsibility lies with the reader and not with the site or the writer.
